According to Paleostinian Authority Tourism Minister Rula Maaya, all Bethlehem hotels were fully booked, and the city was preparing to host an "astounding" 10,000 tourists overnight. | #2 This past fall I had the opportunity to speak with a number of Christians in the West Bank and Old City of Jerusalem. While there is no love lost between the Muslims and Christians in the West Bank, Christians were tolerated prior to the Israeli War of Independence. On the other hand, there is no love lost between the Christians and the Jews either. The Christians, who are considered Palestinians just like the Muslims, are subject to the same intimidation and prejudices as the Muslims. The Israelis don't want Christians in their military either. |
