2018-12-25 |
A helicopter holding Martha Erika Alonso, the new governor of Puebla state and her husband, Mexican Senator Rafael Moreno, came down near the state capital of Pubela, Reuters reported, citing a local newspaper. Alonso is a member of the National Action Party (PAN). She took office earlier this month. Moreno was previously the governor of Puebla for five years between 2011 and 2017, according to Reuters. Reports did not immediately indicate what caused the crash or if the pilot was harmed. |

#6 From the BBC: The accident comes after a number of high-profile deaths in helicopter crashes over the years in Mexico, including Interior Minister Francisco Blake Mora in 2011, the BBC's Will Grant reports. Earlier this year, 13 people died when a minister's helicopter crashed into a crowd, although the minister himself survived, our correspondent says. Coincidences? |
