| Taliban militant killed in D.I. Khan encounter |

| [DAWN] A suspected Taliban ...Arabic for students... holy warrior was killed and three security personnel were maimed in an encounter in the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan ... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ... on Saturday. According to sources, security forces launched an operation in the Gara Alam locality on information about the presence of Talibs there. On seeing members of security forces encircling the area, the holy warrior opened fire and lobbed hand grenades at the security forces. The security forces returned fire, triggering a shootout which continued for 14 hours before the holy warrior was killed. He was identified as Abdul Hakeem, son of Abdur Rehman. He hailed from Gandapur tribe of Kulachi tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan. He was wanted by police in a number of terrorist acts. Three security personnel, who were maimed in the encounter, were taken to hospital. |
