Trump says Attorney General Jeff Sessions resigns
2018-11-07
[CNBC] Attorney General Jeff Sessions is leaving the Trump administration after more than a year of public criticism from his boss, President Donald Trump.

The 71-year-old Sessions departs after the president repeatedly hammered him about his decision last year to recuse himself from the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Kremlin. Trump says that moment opened the door to special counsel Robert Mueller's probe, which the president has repeatedly called a "witch hunt."

Sessions's chief of staff Matthew Whitaker will serve as acting attorney general, Trump announced. Whitaker also will assume oversight of the ongoing investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, and possible collusion by Trump's campaign in that meddling.
Mr. Sessions’ very classy resignation letter can be seen at the link.

Which is about all they're going to do for the next two years.

#7  First off he was not fired, he resigned. Secondly he recused himself from the mueller special council so I am unsure what that has to do with impacteing the special council when he had nothing to do with it. Maybe he will go on talk shows and be the first to explain what crime was committed that warranted a special council in the first place.

#6  Some Democrats are theatening an investigation. Judiciary Committee ranking member Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., revealed plans for House Democrats to investigate and impeach Justice Brett Kavanaugh for alleged perjury and investigate and impeach President Donald Trump for alleged treasonous collusion with Russia. Elizabeth WArren: Trump's firing of Jeff Sessions brings us one step closer to a constitutional crisis. Congress must act to ensure that Special Counsel Mueller can do his job without interference. When he was nominated she said, "I’m deeply disappointed that the Senate voted to confirm Jeff Sessions as Attorney General tonight". Jeff Nadler in 2016:
"Good morning. In case anyone forgot, Jeff Sessions must resign as AG. He cannot possibly lead DOJ to promote trust & rule of law."Nadler today: "Americans must have answers immediately as to the reasoning behind @realDonaldTrump removing Jeff Sessions from @TheJusticeDept. Why is the President making this change and who has authority over Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation? We will be holding people accountable."
