Intense clashes break out between Syrian Army and Turkish-backed forces in east Aleppo [AlMasdar] (10:00 P.M.) – Intense clashes broke-out between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Turkish-backed rebels in east Aleppo this evening after a relatively quiet few months. According to a military source in Damascus, the intense clashes broke out after the Syrian Arab Army fired a couple of mortar shells towards the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) positions at Al-Bab in east Aleppo. In response, the Turkish-backed rebels fired several missiles towards the Syrian Arab Army’s positions in the nearby town of Tadef, which is just south of Al-Bab. A flurry of gunfire was then exchanged between the Syrian Arab Army and Turkish-backed rebels near the Al-Bab-Tadef axis, resulting in a fierce engagement this evening. The clashes are still ongoing at this time; however, the total number of casualties for either party is still unknown. This is the first major confrontation between the Syrian Arab Army and Turkish-backed rebels at the Al-Bab axis in nearly a year. Jihadist rebels attack important southwest Aleppo district [AlMasdar] 2018-09-22 (12:40 A.M.) – The jihadist rebels launched a powerful attack on southwest Aleppo this evening, targeting a number of neighborhoods under the control of the government. According to a military source inside the provincial capital, the jihadist rebels in the Rashiddeen 4 area launched several ground-to-ground missiles at the Al-Hamdaniyah District, causing several explosions throughout the residential neighborhoods. As a result of this attack, a dozen civilians were injured and taken to a local field hospital for medical care. The Syrian Arab Army has now responded with an attack of their own, targeting the Rashideen 4 area that is controlled by the jihadist rebels. Tonight’s attack by the jihadist rebels on Al-Hamdaniyah marks the first major confrontation in southwest Aleppo this month. |
