Manafort’s Judge Is Under Federal Protection After Wave Of Threats
2018-08-18
[DAILYCALLER] Judge T.S. Ellis III revealed in open court Friday that he has received death threats relating to his presiding over Paul Manafort’s trial for bank and tax fraud at a federal court in Alexandria, Virginia.

The judge has since retained the protection of the U.S. Marshals Service.

"I have the marshal’s protection," Ellis said. "I don’t even go to the hotel alone. I won’t even reveal the name of the hotel."

"I had no idea this case excited this emotion in the public," he added.

Ellis made the comments after a coalition of news organizations ‐ including The Washington Post, The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

, the News Agency that Dare Not be Named, CNN, NBC, Politico and BuzzFeed ‐ requested the names and addresses of jurors seated for Manafort’s case.

"There is no reason to believe that extraordinary circumstances exist that would justify keeping jurors’ names sealed ‐ particularly after they have rendered their verdict," their motion reads.

But Ellis disagreed, and rejected the motion for fear the jurors would be subject to the same harassment he has received.

"I don’t feel it’s right if I release their names," he said.

On Friday afternoon, the jury sent a note to the judge indicating they had not yet reached a verdict and hoped to adjourn for the day.

#10  Typical Socialism/Communism. Intimidate any and all who are enemies, and if you have all the power in hand take the short cut and execute them.

#9  Like they wouldn't convict a poor Republican, Airandee?

#8  For the Left being a rich Republican is sufficient evidence to convict; regardless of the actual charges

#7  I was on a Jury where the defendant sure "looked" guilty...
But when they got down to the evidence: the sole 'witness' was a delivery driver that could be influenced by the store manager that obviously hated the defendant, there was no physical inventory at shift change earlier that morning (was it one carton of shoplifted cigarettes as initially reported and ignored by the police -or- the two(+) that a later count "discovered" and they felt like investigating?), and finally no physical evidence whatsoever (no CCTV Tape, no fingerprints, no cigarettes in the defendant's possession,nada)...

Not Guilty. No trip to the State Pen... Could the Defendant have been a Pusher using the public telephone and a pager to conduct business outside her convenience store...? *Shrug* Could be, but that isn't the charge. The whole experience left me underwhelmed by the local DA.

#6  Only reason anyone outside the case could want this information is to jury tamper. The left is so wound up about imaginary obstruction of justice but is OK with this? Riiiiiight...

I'm not so sure it's the public he needs to worry about.

#4  I've sat on a jury where the charges were read from some cryptic law and the judge would not clarify what they meant. It was clear to us the defendant did something wrong but we couldn't tell if it was what she was being charged with. I suspect the Manafort jury is dealing with the same thing.

#3  The left wants a mistrial so they can get a judge who has already decided the case in their favor.

#2  CNN has a well-deserved rep for Doxxing. F*ck them

#1  Trying to doxx the jury? Jesus Christ, that's bad even by the extremely low standards I set for the media.

I pity them. If they acquit Manafort, they're going to be torched in the media and possibly in real life as well.
