[Al Jazeera] Israeli forces have shut down the al-Aqsa Mosque compound following an alleged stabbing attempt by a Paleostinian on a group of Israeli coppers in Jerusalem's Old City.
The attacker, a 30-year-old Paleostinian citizen of Israel from the town of Umm al-Faham,
... more generally spelt in our archives as Umm al-Fahm, home of the outlawed northern branch of the so-called Islamic Movement, the Israeli branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Ynet has video of the “alleged” attack, including the sad little knife the attacker tried to use, and names the miscreant as Ahmad Muhammad Mahamid... | was rubbed out by the Israeli forces, police said in a statement on Friday. No other casualties were reported.
According to local Paleostinian media, worshipers were forcibly removed out of the compound by Israeli police and soldiers, who then proceeded to shut down the gates to the Old City.
In response, hundreds of Paleostinians performed the early evening prayers outside the gates.
No doubt some were Palestinians; others, however, were Arab citizens of Israel because their ancestors were not the kind of cowards who fled the five approaching Arab armies in 1948.
