#16  But upon separation of federal service (retired big shots aside such as flag officers), your clearance is still "in scope" for two years if the investigation anniversary date has not passed. Two years ought to give people enough time to find a Beltway Bandit job.

Once your 5 year PR (Periodic Re-Investigation) is completed, your clearance is good for another five years, unless it is suspended or revoked.

#12  Why did he still have a clearance? You leave the job, you get read off, and thats it, no more need to know = no more clerance. Thats how it worked after leaving the service, thats how it worked after leaving a contract job that required an SSBI type clearance. Why should he retain a clearance when he has NO NEED TO KNOW?
