2018-08-06
[KhaamaPress] The Talibs suffered heavy casualties after attacking the outposts of the Afghan cops in southeastern Paktia province of Afghanistan.

According to the local officials, at least 23 Talibs were killed and four security personnel bit the dust during the heavy festivities.

The provincial government media office in a statement confirmed that the incident took place in Laja Mangal district the province.

The statement further added that 23 gunnies were killed and at least eight others were maimed during the festivities while the dead bodies of a number of gunnies are left in the area.

According to the provincial government, the festivities erupted after a number of Talibs launched coordinated attacks on security outposts late on Saturday night.

The attack was repulsed after additional forces of the Special Forces Kandak, border forces, and police forces were deployed in the area.

According to the officials, at least four security personnel also bit the dust during the festivities with the Talibs.

The Talibs have fled from the area and the security situation of the district is normal now, the provincial government added.

Paktia has been among the relatively calm provinces but the security situation of the province has started to deteriorate during the recent years as reports often emerge of the gunnies activities including coordinated attacks on security forces.
