Syrian Army kills jihadist commander in Al-Ghaab ahead of planned offensive
2018-08-06
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) carried out a powerful attack in the al-Ghaab Plain, yesterday, targeting the movements of the jihadist rebels near the Hama-Idlib provincial border.

The Syrian Arab Army reportedly fired several missiles and artillery shells towards the defenses of Jabhat Tahrir Souriya inside the town of Ziyarah.

According to a military communique from Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army’s attack resulted in the death of at least three jihadist fighters, including a field commander from Jabhat Tahrir Souriya.

The military communique did not state the name of the jihadist commander; however, it did claim that he was the field commander around the Ziyarah front.

Since the conclusion of their southern Syria operations, the Syrian Arab Army has shifted their attention to the al-Ghaab Plain and northern countryside of Latakia.

These aforementioned fronts are the locations of the Syrian Arab Army’s future offensive in northwestern Syria.
