Yemeni forces fire ballistic missile at base run by Saudi mercenaries
2018-07-30
[PRESSTV] Yemeni army forces, supported by allied fighters from Popular Committees, have fired a domestically-designed short-range ballistic missile at a position of Saudi-backed gunnies loyal to resigned president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi in the country’s central province of al-Bayda.

Yemeni military sources, speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
, told Yemen’s Arabic-language al-Masirah television network that the missile hit the designated target in al-Jaribat area of the province on Sunday.

There were no immediate reports about possible fatalities and the extent of damage caused.

Later in the day, Yemeni soldiers and their allies lobbed a barrage of artillery rounds at the strongholds of Saudi mercenaries in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
’s southwestern border region of Najran
a city in southwestern Saudi Arabia near the border with Yemen. It is the capital of Najran Province and a favored target of Houthirocket forces....
Yemeni sharpshooters had earlier fatally shot three Saudi-backed gunnies in the al-Durayhimi district of Yemen’s western coastal province of Hudaydah.

#5  Many US former operators and service are working for the Saudis, enjoying being able to fight without a JAG-Officer okaying their every move.

#4  what do Soddy mercs actually do?

Richard, Wikipedia has a long article on this war, with copious information and links to naming the players and what they’ve done thus far. In brief, the term Saudi mercenaries is the insult Iran PressTV and the Iran-oriented press hurl at the non-Saudi members of the invading coalition, a small number of whom are actual Blackwater and other mercenaries.

Under the section on Western Involvement: United States, after remarking that President Obama authorized American logistical and intelligence support in March, 2015, the article adds

According to press reporting, many in US SOCOM reportedly favor Houthis, as they have been effective at combating al-Qaeda and recently ISIL, "something that hundreds of U.S. drone strikes and large numbers of advisers to Yemen's military had failed to accomplish".[396] According to a senior CENTCOM commander, "the reason the Saudis didn't inform us of their plans is because they knew we would have told them exactly what we think – that it was a bad idea."… According to an Al Jazeera report, one reason for US support may be the diplomatic logic of tamping down SA's opposition to the Iranian nuclear deal by backing them. Another is the view among some US military commanders that countering Iran took strategic priority over combating Al-Qaeda and ISIL.[396]
