| Nine security personnel killed, injured in attack, west of Anbar |

| [Iraq News] Nine security personnel were killed and injured in an armed attack, carried out, west of Anbar, an informed security source from the province said on Saturday. Speaking to BasNews, the source said, "armed people attacked a convoy for al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) in Sad al-Khuzeimi region, as the personnel were heading toward other provinces for a vacation. One personnel was killed, while eight others were maimed." Security troops, according to the source, who preferred anonymity, "headed toward the accident spot and transferred the maimed to hospital for treatment and followed the perpetrators, who fled toward unknown destination." Western regions of Anbar, especially the desert roads that link the border regions with Syria, where PMFs are deployed, are highly exposed to armed attacks, the source added. |
