Nearly 200 Russian military police return home from Syria
2018-07-27
[ALMASDARNEWS] Nearly 200 Russian military police that were deployed in Syria have received orders to return home after a long deployment, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced this morning.

In a statement on Thursday, the Ministry of Defense said that about 200 members of the military police in the southern region returned on a military transport aircraft after their successful operation in the Syrian Arab Republic.

During their tenor in Syria, the Russian military police worked to establish and maintain reconciliation agreements, while also ensuring the return of refugees and displaced civilians.

The Russian military police also trained thousands of local Syrian military police to patrol several areas around the country.

This move by the Russian Ministry of Defense comes just a month after they withdrew dozens of planes and several military personnel from Syria.
