4 drunken men pretending to be pro-govt fighters shoot policeman dead in Mosul

Nineveh (Iraqinews.com) – Four drunken men pretending to be members of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces) have shot a policeman dead in Mosul city, a security source from Nineveh province was quoted as saying.

Speaking to Alghad Press website on Wednesday, the source said, "Four drunken men had an accident in Mosul's eastern side after their car collided with another, prompting security forces to rush to the site."

"Once the force arrived at the scene, the four men fired several shots in the air but one of them, unfortunately, hit a policeman, leaving him dead," said the source.

He added that a security force "managed to arrest the four, who pretended to be members of al-Hashd al-Shaabi."

Eighteen Islamic State members, including leader, arrested in Mosul

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) Iraqi troops have arrested eighteen Islamic State members in Mosul, according to an Iraqi security source and the Security Media Center.

A prominent IS member of the so-called Islamic Police was arrested while attempting to escape from east to west of Mosul, the center said in a statement.

Earlier today, a security source told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA), that seventeen members "were arrested in Baaj town, west of Mosul, depending on information from the intelligence."

The detainees, according to the source, "were transferred to Nineveh Operations Command for investigations ahead of standing trials."

Five dead bodies found in less than day in Mosul: Source

Mosul (IraqiNews.com) A fifth decayed body of a dead civilian has been found in less than 24 hour in west of Mosul, a security source from Nineveh Police said on Wednesday.

Speaking to BasNews, Cap. Amir Wathiq said, "Security troops found two unidentified dead bodies, today, in Hawi al-Kanisah region, for a young man in his twenties. The body was transferred to forensic medicine department in Mosul."

This makes the total number of dead bodies found to reach five corpses found in less than 24 hours, as three others were found in Tuesday, according to Wathiq.
