3 civilians killed in bomb blast, armed attack, northeast of Baquba
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) Three civilians, including a mayor of a village, were killed in a bomb blast and an armed attack, northeast of Baquba, a local source from Diyala said on Wednesday.
Speaking to AlSumaria News, the source said, "the mayor of Zahra village in al-Waqf basin was killed in a bomb blast near his garden, while two other farmers were killed in an armed attack carried out by unidentified persons in another garden."
Investigations on the two accidents were conducted, according to the source, who preferred anonymity.
Islamic State leader, three companions arrested in operation in Diyala
Diyala (IraqiNews.com) An Islamic State leader and three of his companions were arrested in a security operations, the police command of Diyala province said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the command said, "security force of the intelligence department and the counter-terrorism troops, managed to arrest a militant who used to work as Emir of vigilantism (Hisbah) department."
Three of his companions, according to the statement, were also arrested during a security operation carried out in al-Tabj region, east of the province.
In remarks to Alghad Press, Maj. Gen. Faisal al-Abadi, commander of Diyala province, said "the militant used to be in charge of Hisbah in Hawija, before being in charge of transferring the militants and suicide attackers to across Diyala."
