NBC Reporter: Trump Will Cause ‘Financial’ Harm to Clapper, Brennan by Revoking Security Clearances
2018-07-26
[BREITBART] NBC News news hound Ken Dilanian suggested Monday that President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
would hurt the livelihoods of B.O. regime alumni by taking away the "valuable commodity" of their security clearances.

Dilanian (pictured, bottom center), who covers the intelligence community and national security issues, accused Trump of "seeking to levy a financial penalty" on former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper ‐ both of whom are paid contributors at cable news networks.

Brennan now works for Dilanian’s employer NBC News as an MSNBC analyst. Clapper has since joined CNN in a similar capacity.

He further insinuated that federal employees should consider resisting the order if the president gives it, lambasting Trump for what he called an "extraordinary threat of political retribution."

Security clearances are a valuable commodity. By making this threat, @realDonaldTrump is seeking to levy a financial penalty on @JohnBrennan and Clapper. There are also public policy reasons that former intel leaders remain cleared‐so they can help their successors.

The national security officials who run this process will have to decide whether they can live with themselves if they go along with this extraordinary threat of political retribution. The president can probably pull the clearances of anybody he wants. https://t.co/ZIcvqLKDDb

#18  Maybe Trump wants to do them harm. After all they have tried to do great harm to him and to us. It's his way of saying FU very much.

#17  49Pan took a shortcut in his comment.

Clearances go inactive when a holder no longer has a job that requires one or a need to know, depending on the level and type of clearance. This is especially true WRT being read into compartmented intel info, but is more broadly true of all clearances.

But all clearances are predicated on background investigations of several types - and those do expire. Once a BI expires, no clearances are authorized until and unless a sponsoring government agency authorizes and funds an updated investigation.

#16  And what about the financial harm to Mueller's innocent victims?

#14  Once you retire, it is supposed to go inactive... So this removing clearances is all just hype.
I think you miss the point of why clearances should even continue after the holder loses his job (for whatever reason, not just retirement). That part makes zero sense and never has. And it is not "just hype". But I guess there is also the excuse "We've always done it this way."

#13  Just think of the financial harm these treasonous bastards will suffer when they're locked up in a super max.

#12  Sort of like BLM permits to dig, log or drill. The government had no problem pulling those in the previous administrations even though it caused 'financial' harm.

#10  Lots of angry hype here. When you get a security clearance, you get it for a number of years. The clearance is you getting it, not the job getting it. Once you retire, it is supposed to go inactive. It stays in that mode until you get into a position or job that requires the clearance. Then they assign it to a position that aligns with the requirement and your clearance is reinstated. You cant just walk into a classified meeting because you have clearance, it requires proof of need to know and approval. So this removing clearances is all just hype. What they need to do is insure only active employees' clearances are being managed by the CIA, then they would have to have him on the rolls and he would fall under all the ethics rules of the agency. There should only be one clearance at the level of director of the CIA, the rest should be downgraded and placed in the inactive category...

#9  Many of these erudite, cogent comments flashed through my nimble brain whilst reading the headline.

But to answer Crazy Fool's inquiry, I'd say they are prostituting their clearances.

#8  "valuable commodity"

WTF?

Are they selling or renting out their security clearances?

#7  NBCNews reporter Ken Dilanian suggested Monday that President Donald Trump would hurt the livelihoods of Obama administration alumni by taking away the “valuable commodity” of their security clearances.

The writer is mistaken. No, it's not Trump. It's a cabal of Deep State leftists from the previous administration (and a few Rinos) who did it to themselves with their plot to take down a duly-elected POTUS elected to clean up the mess that's been festering. They have lied, schemed, committed crimes, obstructed justice, covered-up and been seditious and treasonous.

His argument is like the bank robber blaming the bank for their clerk getting shot in his hold-up. Specious.

#4  It's right up there with CNN's headlines yesterday that the Iridium 7 launch was a failure because SpaceX didn't recover intact pristine fairings. Nobody has ever recovered intact pristine fairings and only SpaceX has tried to do so. Current mass media appears to be biased and illiterate.

#3  The fact that someone could make financial gain out of the security clearance should be reason enough to revoke it. It's not a money making dodge for crying out loud.

#2  What is the color of the sky on Planet Dilanian? Security Clearances™ are a privilege that the government conditionally extends at the government's convenience. They aren't your personal property.
Posted by: magpie   2018-07-26 00:21

#1  Will the idea that they're not supposed to use these clearances for financial gain be mentioned by anybody?
