[Rudaw] Iraq's election commission has released final results for the parliamentary election. The Fatih alliance with ties to Iranian-backed militias came second with 47 seats, pushing the Victory (Nasr) alliance of incumbent Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi into third place with 42 seats. Among the Kurdish parties, the KDP won the most seats with 25, putting it fifth overall in the country, one seat behind Nouri al-Maliki's State of Law coalition. The PUK won 18 seats. The breakdown of the frontrunners and the Kurdish parties is as follows: Sayirun β 54 seats Fatih β 47 seats Victory (Nasr) alliance β 42 seats State of Law β 26 seats KDP β 25 seats Al-Wataniya β 22 seats Hikma Front β 19 seats PUK β 18 seats Gorran β 5 seats New Generation β 4 seats Komal β 2 seats CDJ β 2 seats KIU β 2 seats Parties have three days to file complaints. |
