| Taliban militants have suffered casualties in Farah attack, claims MoD |

| [Khaama (Afghanistan)] The Ministry of Defense (MoD) claims that the Talibs have suffered heavy casualties during the attack on Farah city. According to a statement by MoD, the Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... turbans launched a coordinated attack at 2:00 am on Tuesday, initially launching their attack from Shebkoh district and managed to seize some parts of Farah city after intruding into the city from its northern parts. The statement further added that the Afghan national defense and security forces responded to the attack with the ground and air offensive, leaving at least 198 turbans dead. The ministry of defense also claims that scores of Talibs have also sustained injuries during the festivities with the security forces. MoD also added that the Afghan forces successfully repulsed the Taliban attack and inflicted casualties on them despite they attempted to use the civilian homes as shelter against the security forces. In the meantime, MoD says the city has been fully cleared of the Talibs but clearance operations are still being conducted in the outskirts of the city. |
