| Syrian military launches massive attack on ISIL’s last positions in southern Damascus |

| [ALMASDARNEWS] At approximately 2:30 A.M. (Damascus Time), the Syrian Arab Army unleashed a massive assault on the so-called Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Led by the elite 42nd Brigade (Ghiath forces), the Syrian Army began their assault by launching a large number of surface-to-surface missiles towards the terrorist defenses inside the Yarmouk Camp, Tadamon, and Hajar al-Aswad. The missile strikes were followed by a powerful ground assault from the 42nd Brigade on the southwestern corridor of the Yarmouk Camp. According to preliminary reports from southern Damascus, the Syrian Army is attempting to advance north of 30th Street in a bid to drive the Islamic State away from the Hajar al-Aswad axis. With ISIS confined to a small area in southern Damascus, the Syrian Army is looking to eliminate the last remnants of the terrorist group in the next few weeks. |
