| 1 dead in Pak missile barrage in Kunar |

| At least one civilian was killed and seven others wounded in Pakistan’s missile attack on eastern Kunar province, local officials said Tuesday. Ghani Samim, Kunar governor’s spokesman, told TOLOnews that in the past week nearly 1,500 missiles have been fired on Kunar province, killing one civilian and wounding seven others. Samim said after a break of two days, shelling started up again on Monday night. Almost 400 missiles have landed in Kunar province since Monday night, he said. “One civilian was killed in Sarkano and seven others were wounded,” Samim told TOLOnews. Samim further added that most of the missiles landed in Sarkano and Dangam district of the province. Security officials have not yet commented. In February last year, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) warned that Pakistan’s missile attacks on the eastern regions of the country would have serious consequences, suggesting that a diplomatic solution to the issue between the two neighbors was needed. However, Pakistani officials in the past have claimed that they targeted only terrorist groups by firing off the missiles but residents said the missiles hit their houses and the surrounding forests. |
