#4 Is that merely negligent or "criminally negligent?" This isn't negligence. They're de facto victims of blackmail since they reasonably have to assume that all dirty secrets stored on congressional IT infrastructure is in the hands of the Pakistanis/Chinese. Negligence may have played a role when the Awans got initial access. OTOH some foreign player might have applied pressure on key decision makers even then, using information obtained by other means. |

#1 The author, cybersecurity expert Kevin McDonald of Alvaka Networks, especially faults the judgement of Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who kept Imran on her payroll for an additional six months after House leadership banned him from the network. He also questions her claim the IT aide was somehow providing tech services without ever connecting to the House network. In other words, it's how I feel. |
