Once you take the step of accepting Assad and his govt as legitimate, the rest follows naturally, kind of. The enemy is the same, with the added element of the Islamic State and the active participation of the Moslem Brotherhood.

#2  A moslem terrorist is a moslem terrorist no matter where they are in the world.

They are so tightly intertwined that a jihad movement in one region can metastasize into your own backyard.

The Chechnyans are enthusiastic participants in jihad no matter where it is and they are a plague in Russia.

So, I think Putin's approach to kill them somewhere else so they don't pollute the local populous is a good idea. Like cockroaches, kill them wherever you find them.

The US has to learn you don't reform a jihadi, you should kill them before they come back and kill you and your neighbors.

#1  Soviets always did better than USA in "Third World". IMO, the main reason is because they despise the locals: both allies and enemies - unlike Americans (or Israelis in Lebanon) who try really hard to like their "allies".
