#3 This is a little overwrought. Communists were inquisitors to the nth power. They never learned to disagree without being disagreeable. Both factions involved in the Cultural Revolution were Communist zealots duking it out over who could demonstrate greater loyalty to Mao aka the Great Helmsman. If there is a historical parallel to be drawn to the Cultural Revolution, it's to Byzantines fighting over the number of angels that could stand on the head of a pin. |
