Auto Travel Up - Unexpectedly
2017-06-26
[Rooters] Motorists logged 1.2 percent more miles on U.S. roads and highways in April compared with the same month last year, according to U.S. government data released on Tuesday, keeping pace to break last year's record volumes.
1.2% April '16 compared to April '17.
Motorists have traveled 1.01 trillion miles on U.S. roads and highways this year through April, a 1.5 percent increase over the same stretch last year, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
But 1.5% for the first four months of this year, compared to last year.
The sustained strength in driving volumes is a good sign for refiners as the U.S. driving season kicks off in earnest.
This in spite of all the Rooshin troubles and Trump miss-steps and chaos in his organization, Antifa protests, resistance movements, xenophobia, homophobia, anti-gender-selection bias, racists, etc.

#2  I've been laying up a lot of road miles, rather than stand in one big 'boom' target of the backed up TSA screening lines at airports. From the 'entrainment' news, I've also avoided the notable performance of crews and passengers.

#1  Population increase. Gas price decrease. Airline pain-in-the-@$$ factor increase. Optimism increase. Yeah, totally unexpected.
