[Inquirer] Three people were arrested for allegedly setting off an improvised explosive device that targeted soldiers in Cateel, Davao Oriental, on Saturday. Two of the suspects — Joedel Nunez and Tantan Bacquiao – were caught by soldiers after detonating the explosives, said Andrea dela Cerna, regional spokesperson for the Southern Mindanao police.Dela Cerna said the blast happened around 1 a.m. as soldiers were passing Sitio Magong-ong, San Rafael village, on their way to Sitio Yapsay, Talaytay village.
Another suspect identified as Glen Enijada was nabbed as he was about to escape on a motorcycle without license plates.
Dela Cerna said an alleged accomplice and financier, identified as Simeon Pamugas, was able to escape and is now being sought by authorities.
