| Iraqi militia stops ISIS attack on Qamishli |

| Qamishli (IraqiNews.com) Al-Hashd al-Shaabi foiled on Monday an attack by the Islamic Group against the Syrian city of Qamishli, which is predominantly inhabited by Kurds, southwest of Tal Afar. According to the military spokesperson, al-Hashd al-Shaabi “confronted the biggest attack by IS against Qamishli, west of Mosul.” The troops “set more than six booby trapped motorbikes on fire, killing those on board.” The spokesperson added that IS was attempting to escape toward Baaj. Qamishli is considered a pivotal point between Tal Afar and Sinjar, as well as being one of the strategic towns that used to be a source of IS attacks against al-Hashd al-Shaabi west of Tal Afar. |
