| 5 die in multiple incidents in Laghman province |

| At least four civilians and a soldier were killed in two separate incidents in Laghman province on Wednesday, local official said on Thursday. In addition, nine others including seven soldiers were injured in the attacks, provincial governor spokesman Sarhadi Zwak siad. He said two children were killed and two others were wounded after a mortar shelled by militants hit a civilian house in Mehtarlam, the capital city of the province. Meanwhile, a military soldier and two civilians were killed in an ambush by the Taliban on a convoy of security forces in Alishing district of the province, Zwak added. Seven soldiers were wounded in the attack, he said. However, he did not provide more details about the incidents. Taliban has claimed the civilian casualties were due to an attack by Afghan forces. |
