Secret Service puts agent who decried taking 'a bullet' for Trump on paid leave
2017-01-29
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] The Secret Service has placed the senior special agent who wrote a Facebook post decrying "taking a bullet" for Trump on administrative leave while the agency investigates her social media activities.

An agency spokeswoman on Friday afternoon informed the Washington Examiner of the management action, which takes the agent off the job with pay while the investigation proceeds.

The move is a sign that the agency is taking the investigation against Kerry O'Grady, the agent who wrote the Facebook post, seriously. Critics, however, question why it took the agency three months and a report in the Washington Examiner earlier this week for it to initiate the probe.

On Wednesday night, the Secret Service announced that it was formally investigating the special agent who suggested on Facebook that she would rather endure "jail time" than take "a bullet" for Trump.

#8  Dan Emmett is a former Secret Service agent and author of the new book Within Arm’s Length, a revealing account of what it’s like to serve on this team, from how he got a job on the elite force tasked with protecting the president to riding Air Force One and driving the commander-in-chief in a bulletproof limousine.

Below, Emmett reveals the truth behind five common misconceptions about the Secret Service.

Of all federal law enforcement agencies, the Secret Service is perhaps the least understood and the most enigmatic. Below are some of the most prevalent myths that have come to my attention over the years.

Myth 3: Secret Service agents swear an oath to die for the president.

Fact: This myth is one of the most prevalent of all—and it’s a complete urban legend. Secret Service agents only take the oath to become an agent. The willingness to possibly be called upon to sacrifice one’s life for that of the office of the presidency is simply understood, with no official oath or affirmation required.

#5  The only position we currently have open is a counterfeit currency GS-7 slot in Galena, AK

I was thinking more along the lines of Pretoria, Moscow, or Sofia. Maybe Mexico City.

#4  Someone earlier suggested a lifetime appointment to the Hillary detail. A presidential spouse who resides apart from the former president rates perhaps a two person detail plus a driver? She can make friends with Huma perhaps.

#3  The way to deal with this is to make who uses which bathroom in public schools subject to federal oversight and send this woman to monitor boys who want to use the girls' room in a high school in Jerkwater, Georgia.
