NYT Thinks the States will Protect the Environment from Trump |
2016-12-28 |
[NY Times] State governments will serve as an important bulwark against any attempt by President-elect Donald Trump to roll back the progress the United States has made in addressing climate change. And that's good news for the planet. So when you can't depend on the Feds, put your trust in the states. From the NYT, no less. Over the last decade or so, most states have reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by promoting energy efficiency and renewable fuels. These trends should continue as clean energy costs continue to decline and, in some parts of the country, fall below the cost of dirtier fuels like coal. Farther down in the article, the Times does seem aware that some of the states are controlled by Republicans. |

#5 If the EPA remains after Trump is sworn in the new charter should be to Protect Americans from Environmentalists. |

#4 Dont forget the off-shore oil rights... Especially in the Atlantic and Artic.... Turn those over to the respective states (as it should be!). |

#3 Since when does the New York Times advocate federalism? It's all federal government, all the time! The states? That's where the rednecks live! |

#1 And ignore a vast amount of 'western lands' belong to the feds, not the states. You think the NYT would support transferring them, now? Or just the Left Coast? |
