Democrats OK with letting Mad Dog into Pentagon |
2016-12-08 |
[Iran Press TV] Democratic politicians will not take issue with an expedited process designed to allow former General James Mattis to serve as US President-elect Donald Trump ...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States... ’s pick to lead the military, says House Minority Leader ![]() San Fran NanPelosi Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. Formerly Speaker of the House, but it's not her fault they lost. Really. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace... "I don’t think that will be an obstacle -- maybe for some," stated the Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Democrat on Wednesday. The future president nominated the hawkish commander, known as "Mad Dog," during a "Thank You Tour" stop in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on Tuesday. Apart from confirmation by the Senate, Mattis would also need a Democratic-backed waiver so he can be assigned the post. The hawkish general, who retired in 2013, cannot be appointed to the post as law requires defense secretaries to be out of uniform for at least seven years before reclaiming the position. The law is cited as an effort to maintain civilian control of the US military. "The overriding principal since the revolution of our country has been the civilian control of the military. Only in recent history was that diverted from ... in 1950 when George Marshall was granted a waiver to serve as secretary of defense even though he had not been out of the military for seven years," Pelosi said. |

#14 They need only 50% on appointments. But they need 60% on waiver of 7 year requirement. Unless it is attached to a CR. |

#13 I thought the Democrats did away with the 60% requirement and now a simple majority is needed. I remember a few Democrats had bit of remorse last week for changing it. |

#12 I believe the argument is doing to be more along the line of Congress' authority to make the laws governing land and naval forces. As a GO, even retired, he is subject to recall per that authority. |

#10 The Legislature's aw restricting picks to 7 yrs post-service is unconstitutional. The Senate has Advice and Consent rights but cannot otherwise restrict the Executive from making any picks he or she chooses |

#9 I think they need 60%. You can change the law with 50+% |

#5 Apart from confirmation by the Senate, Mattis would also need a Democratic-backed waiver so he can be assigned the post. ?? Technically with control of both Houses, why would they need any backing from the Donks? It's not a amendment to the Constitution. |
