#2  How much of the "CSAR atrophy" was directly caused by the Pentagon Mafia wanting to grab a bigger slice of the SOCOM (or its predecessor) budget pie? Let's turn CSAR into Luftwaffe USAF version of the Rangers.

Anecdotally a friend told me that he went to bed with the MOS of Surveyor/Draftsman in a US Army Engineer battalion and the next morning the NCO told them that by the authority of the Secretary of the Army they were now Combat Engineers! He did like going to the range and getting to fire the LMG's.

#1  ...This kind of training works both ways - capture and rescue. We've let our CSAR abilities atrophy (like so much else) and I know there is some concern among the tactical bubbas that these days, in combat 'eject' is pronounced 'captured'.

But we have transgender folks in the force these days, so it's all good.
