ISIS Confiscates Its Members’ Passport to Block Their Way Out
2016-06-25 | |
Since IS is facing successive failures, especially in Iraq its members are reportedly no longer willing to risk their lives and fight for the group, looking for an opportunity to escape. Qadir Qadir, a Kurdish Peshmerga commander, said they have received intelligence saying that IS has confiscated and burned its leading members’ passports to prevent them from escaping. According to Qadir, many IS insurgents in Iraq have reportedly fled the group to Syria and then outside the IS-held territories. Additionally, the number of IS insurgents surrendering to the Peshmerga forces in the areas near Mosul has recently increased, as four IS militants giving up on the group earlier this week and capitulating to the Kurdish forces. The Peshmerga commander also revealed that IS has withdrawn part of its forces from Mosul to its self-declared capital of Raqqa in Syria as the group is seemingly disappointed by its losses in Iraq.
