Palestinians firebomb Israeli cars; teen shot dead by IDF
2016-06-22
[IsraelTimes] Three Israeli motorists said lightly injured; army walks back statement blaming slain youth for attack.

Israeli troops rubbed out a Paleostinian teenager after Paleostinians threw Molotov cocktails at cars near the West Bank village of Beit Ur al-Tahta early Tuesday. Other Paleostinians were maimed, Paleostinian security officials said.

The army said that troops shot at least two men, "after a number of Paleostinians hurled rocks and Molotov cocktails at moving vehicles near the village of Beit Sira on route 443."

Three Israelis were maimed when their car was pelted with stones on Route 443, a highway connecting Tel Aviv and Jerusalem that runs through the West Bank west of Jerusalem, the IDF said. Several vehicles were damaged.

"An initial review suggests that as the mob continued, nearby forces acted in order to protect the additional passing vehicles from immediate danger and fired toward the assailants," a military statement said. "Forces confirmed hits resulting in the death of one of the attackers."

An IDF spokesperson later retracted the statement, telling The Times of Israel that none of the Paleostinians hit by gunfire were believed to have been involved in the rock-throwing incident.
It's never a good idea to hang around when bullets are flying -- they don't differentiate between innocent and guilty.
Paleostinian officials named the dead youth as as 15-year-old Mahmoud Badran. Paleostinian media identified him as coming from the village of Kafr Qadum, east of Qalqilya.
