| Syria: Cautious calm prevails in Latakia, Damascus |

| [AA.TR] Cautious calm has prevailed in northwestern Syria’s Latakia province and capital Damascus following a lull in fighting declared by the U.S. and Russia. "No festivities were reported in Latakia’s northern countryside and Eastern Ghouta since Friday," local sources told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday. According to the sources, who spoke to Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity because of safety concerns, regime forces and opposition fighters in the Jabal al-Akrad and the Turkmen Mountain areas have largely respected the lull. The two sides, however, have carried out mortar attacks now and then, the sources said. Last week, Moscow and Washington brokered a temporary lull in fighting in some parts of Syria. |
