U.S. Officials Bash 'Sh#tty' Belgian Security Forces | |

![]() The twin terror attacks in Brussels that left at least 30 dead and 230 injured on Tuesday, despite repeated warnings from Washington, left U.S. officials fuming. A senior U.S. intelligence officer likened the Belgian security forces to "children." That might leave a mark.

#6 The Belgians punched above their weight in 1914, but I don't think they ever recovered. |

#5 Part of the problem is the long period of alternating caretaker and short-lived governments, when virtually no dcisions could be or were made. To repeat the history I posted in another thread: Following the June 2007 elections there was a problem putting together a new coalition to form a new government, so the previous government officially acted as a caretaker from Dec. 2007 - March 2008, charged with handling day to day running of the federal government, but forbidden to make any new decisions. A new government was sworn in on March 20, 2008. For whatever reason, they offered their resignation on July 15, 2008, which the king refused, then resigned again in December 2008. A new government was sworn in on Dec. 30, 2008, then resigned in Nov. 2009. A new government was sworn in on Nov. 25, 2009, then resigned in April 2010, but agreed to stay on as caretaker -- again running the day to day needs of the government but making no new decisions -- until a new government formed following the upcoming elections in June 2010. It took until December 2011 for a new coalition government to be formed, a world record for a country to go without a proper government. The Belgians have much cause to be grateful that they live in a federation with much local self-governance, and not under a unitary national government, like France. The election in 2014 resulted in a new government forming promptly, but there was a long period when none of the decisions necessary to dealing with the rising jihadi threat could be made. |

#4 Seems kind of rude and un-statesmanlike considering the blood hasn't dried yet. |

#3 Brussels has been notorious for some time. The problem was the socialists were becoming less and less popular and might lose power. The solution was to let in lots of immigrants and make them citizens after a very short time. The result was a large new voting block of socialists. Does this immigration policy remind anyone of Obama? Al |

#2 Two words: San Bernardino. Israel's experience indicates that if they've access, they'll commit acts of terrorism. And if you block access---they start developing qassams. |

#1 Looks like the nice French Lady's fear at local McDonald's that Belgium will likely be the first Euro country to be taken over by the ISIS/ISIS, asopposed to the UK or France or Other, is coming true. Belgium wid its huge Muslim expat population was already at risk even before the Syria-Iraq refugee crisis began. The EU's Security + INTEL forces are being overwhelmed by the sheer numbers + scale of networking. * LUCIANNE > [Weekly Standard] ISIS OVERWHELMS EUROPE'S COUNTER-TERRORISM FORCES. * IIRC NETWORK54 WAFF > [The Age] JIHADIS TERROR THREAT IN EUROPE NOW [expanding] "BEYOND THE CONTROL" OF AUTHORITIES. |
