Another Iranian commander killed in Syria |
2016-03-13 |
![]() General Hassan Ali Shamsabadi was reportedly killed late on Wednesday while, according to an Iranian press report quoted by NOW Leb, undertaking an "advisory mission" in the war-torn country. A mere day after he had officially retired. The report claimed he was defending Shiite shrines in Syria when killed. However the Syrian opposition say he was killed in fighting near Aleppo. An area where most of the 180+ Iranians to have died in Syria have been killed to date. His death comes one monther after another IRGC commander, Brigadier General Mohsen Qaryajan, was killed in a similar mission in Syria. Tehran has long insisted that it only sends its paramilitary soldiers to Syria in an advisory role. Not as combat troops. Iran, along with its Lebanese proxy Hezbollah, have fully supported the regime of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneckal-Assad One of the last of the old-fashioned hereditary iron-fisted fascist dictators... in the Syrian conflict since it began. Hezbollah has lost as many as 1,300 of its members since it intervened in mid-2013 to assist that regime against its various armed enemies. |

#4 Posthumous promotion? Otherwise, I agree. They have been losing a suspiciously high number of senior, field grade & flag rank officers. Purging of the officer corps soviet style, then attributing them to "enemy action"? |
