Village chief, cop gunned down in southern Thailand |

![]() The first attack when a police team providing security for frequently targeted teachers was returning from a bird singing contest. Pol Sr Sgt Maj Maripeng Cheyi was walking among villagers when he was approached by a man who fired one shot into his head, killing him instantly. The murder happened about 20 meters from the school's entrance gate. The gunman stole a pistol and a rifle from his victim and fled on a waiting motorcyle. In the second attack, village chief Abdulroseh Jeha was traveling by motorcycle, taking a report on a suspected insurgent to the authorities in Si Sakhon district when he was ambushed and killed. |
