Carrier HVAC company carries everything from Indy to Mexico.
2016-02-13
[Breitbart] Chris Nelson, Carrier's president of HVAC systems and services for North America, published this statement:

This move is intended to address the challenges we continue to face in a rapidly changing HVAC industry, with the continued migration of the HVAC industry to Mexico, including our suppliers and competitors, and ongoing cost and pricing pressures driven, in part, by new regulatory requirements.

Relocating our operations to a region where we have existing infrastructure and a strong supplier base will allow us to operate more cost effectively so that we can continue to produce high-quality HVAC products that are competitively positioned while continuing to meet customer needs.

This decision is difficult and we recognize the impact on employees, their families and the community. We are committed to ensuring that our employees are treated respectfully and to working closely with their representatives throughout this transition.

#11  Abu Uluque,

GOOD NEWS: There is a refrigerator/air conditioner plant about 45 minutes from me here in SC.

BAD NEWS: It's owned by Haier, which is Chinese.

#10  If we're rapidly getting to the point where all air conditioners are built in Mexico it's not practical to say "Don't buy Carrier". It's like saying "Don't buy computers made in China". It leaves you without any computers to buy. It'll be like when all Fords and then all Chevys and all Dodges are made in Mexico. What are you gonna do? Ride a bike? Well, when you no longer have a job that bicycle might be the only option you have...except it'll be made in China. The bright side is that when the Mexicans have all of our jobs they might stay home.

#9  they're not making F-150s there to my knowledge. Drink up!

#8  @#5: with the announcement of Ford doubling production in Mexico this week, should we then cease buying F-150s?

#7  The left is angry because Mexicans in Mexico got the jobs, Mexicans who won't be voting Democrat in the US. Carrier made it clear that they cannot survive due to excessive government regulations.

#4  Exporting jobs, importing unemployment.

Just rememder the smart people blame tariffs for the extent of the Great Depression. Please note, we don't have those tarriffs today but we still have what amounts to the old definition of a depression. That was before those smart people changed the definition and cooked the books.

#3  Anyone remember the NAFTA discussion from another political campaign of long ago, and a candidate who coined the term....'giant sucking sound?'

#2  Another 'thank Clinton' episode: NAFTA, which you won't hear about during the campaigns.

As it was set up on his watch, we can blame Bush, Sr. for this too.
