SULAYMANIYAH – Kurdish Counter-Terrorism special forces arrested on Tuesday a terror cell linked to the Islamic State (ISIS) in Sulaymaniyah city of Iraqi Kurdistan. The members of the terror cell were reportedly planning to conduct a series of terrorist attacks across the Kurdistan Region. The members of the ISIS-linked terror cell were Arab and Kurdish jihadis recruited by ISIS, the police reported. Speaking to ARA News in Sulaymaniyah, a police official said that hundreds of local residents of Iraqi Kurdistan have been recruited by ISIS group over the past few years. “We are aware of such a movement inside the Kurdistan Region, and our special forces are pursing every citizen involved in contacts with the ISIS terror group,” he said. |
