| #5 There were enough open-source references to indicate (but not verify) that the Chinese has had a few observers in Syria. It would make sense, given that the opportunity would be too valuable to pass up. |

| #4 Chinese "Special Forces" are more like US light infantry or ranger units. The "Siberian Tiger" brigade is the SF unit assigned to Shenyang military region. It specializes in LRRP patrols. The "Night Tiger" brigade specializes in counter terrorism. |
