A base of Al Shabaab fighters in Kunyo-Barow village in Lower Shabelle region has been targeted in a reported drone strike on Wednesday afternoon.Residents reported heavy explosions near Al shabaab base in the area as a result of the airstrike by a suspected U.S. drone. The casualty figure in the air attack is unclear at this time.
U.S. has in the past carried out many airstrikes in suthern Somalia, including a drone attack which killed Al shabaab leader Ahmed Godane near Barawe town in Lower Shabelle region On 1st September, 2014.
