[The Nation] Pattani's provincial court has handed out a death for to a man for gunning down five people at a tea shop in Panare district on February 3, 2011. The verdict stated that Asamal Jehba was guilty of conspiring to launch the drive-by attack at the tea shop, which also resulted in four injuries. Another defendant, Aliyasa Samoh, was acquitted.In June, Asamal was sentenced to 38 years in jail in a separate national security case and the court is scheduled to read the verdict in yet another national security case on November 30. Aliyasa had been given life sentences for two other cases - both of which he appealed - and was acquitted in five cases, including this attack.
