![]() Governor of Spera District said the raid was conducted by Special Forces in Kariza area last night. Mohammad Azim added that Special Forces took two Uzbek militants with them to Kabul after killing four men and two women in the area. The district governor did not elaborate more about the foreign militants in his area but they might have spilled over to Afghan territory through the province’s border with Pakistan’s tribal built where reportedly different terrorist groups including Uzbek, Chechen, al-Qaeda, Haqqani and Taliban operate. Most of the Uzbek militants in Afghanistan and Pakistan fight under the name of Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU) which has declared allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). An undated video was released by the group in August purportedly showing its leader Usmon Ghazi and his fighters taking oath of allegiance to ISIS terror group and its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. |
