France hits Raqqa - Water and Power cut off |
2015-11-15 |
![]() Multiple media reports indicate that French military aircraft are targeting the de facto ISIS capital of Raqqa, Syria. At least 10 jets have dropped 20 bombs on 30 different targets in Syria. Sky News is reporting that French planes hit a jihadi training camp, recruitment center and an ISIS arms depot. |

#16 You cannot do carped bombing with 20 conventional bombs. Here is an image of Wesel, Germany, after bombing and battle in 1945. This is carpet bombing.![]() |

#15 Good job France. Bomb the city until it has been reduced to rubble. Then bomb it some more to make the rubble bounce. |

#14 EPA recommended level for drinking water is 500 ppm. Come for the salty water, stay for the cholera! Good stuff, Alaska Paul. The Sky News artic uses 'carpet bombing' like it was a bad word. |

#13 To be fair to Obama, the Raqqa basketball team sucks and is never on ESPN. |

#12 Nice map, Alaska Paul. Sadly, Bright Pebbles, this from Frank G's Sky News link: Kiley added: "I think essentially what's gone on here is the coalition have said 'this is your turn to hit back as France rather than as the coalition'. "But I don't think this should be seen as some kind of carpet-bombing campaign. One can only hope the Sky News reporter has misread his tea leaves. |

#11 I started reading about the Tabqa dam upstream, and also about the Turkish one upstream from Tabqa. Hydroelectric operating at 1/6 design capacity, limping along. Then I wondered about salinity of the Euphrates. Seems that the Euphrates going into Iraq in 1979 was 1080 ppm. In 2001 it was up to 4500 ppm. EPA recommended level for drinking water is 500 ppm. Over demand on a limited resource. Typical behavior for most of that region. |

#9 I will believe it a serious attack when ordnance equivalent in TNT equivalent per raid is measured in kilotons. |

#7 It's a reprehensible crime that Obama will do nothing and "Lead from behind". |

#6 If they do this everyday maybe I'll believe they actually want to degrade ISIS... |
