Ghani vows to avenge the beheading of civilians by militants
2015-11-12
President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday reiterated the government’s commitment to avenge the brutal killing of civilians by the alleged loyalists of the Islamic State terror group.

His remarks were followed amid growing anger by the rally participants who tried to scale the walls of ARG Presidential Palace this afternoon, forcing the palace security guards to open fire.

According to the Ministry of Public (MoPH), at least eight people including a reporter were injured in the incident.

The protesters also hurled stones towards the palace compound while demanding the unity government leaders to step down.

“I reiterate that we shall revenge the blood of our brothers and sisters from the Taliban, Daesh and other groups,” President Ghani.

President Ghani further added “We are all extremely pained by the horrific crime of Zabul. This is the act of our enemies. We will have reprisal. Must stay united, not divided.”

He called on the nation for calm following today’s massive rally, saying the enemy of the Afghan people are trying to create differences among the people with the latest brutal killing of the hostages.

The hostages including women and a child were beheaded by the militants believed to be loyalists of the Islamic State terror group, a month after they were kidnapped from a highway between Zabul and Ghani province.

The dead bodies of the hostages were found on Saturday from Khak-e-Afghan district of the restive Zabul province.
