A court in Bahrain has revoked the nationality of two Bahrainis for receiving and facilitating explosives and firearms training in Iraq.The two individuals have been convicted of terror-related offences and sentenced to ten years in prison. The Chief of the Terror Crimes Prosecution also confirmed that the individuals' citizenship has been revoked due to the seriousness of the offences.
The first suspect was found guilty of travelling to Iraq last year to receive terrorist training camps, with the intention of carrying out attacks within Bahrain upon his return. The second suspect was found guilty of facilitating travel, providing funds, and liaising with members of the terrorist group within Iraq.
This verdict came days after the court revoked the nationality of five Bahrainis for spying for Iran. They were sentenced also to life imprisonment.
