[RFE/RL] Russian officials say the ringleader of a group of Islamist militants in Kabardino-Balkaria was killed on November 10 in a special operation.Russia's National Antiterrorism Committee (NAK) said the man killed by security forces in Nalchik was identified as Robert Zankishiyev, aka Abdullah, who "had vowed loyalty to the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq" earlier this year.
Russian Prosecutor-General Yury Chaika on November 10 said that citizens from some 100 countries -- including Russia and former Soviet republics -- are fighting along Daesh militants in Syria and Iraq.
