FBI Preliminary Inquiry into Beest's Emails May Now Be 'Full Blown Investigation'
2015-11-11
[PJ Media] Even as Hillary Clinton tries to put questions about her private email server behind her, the FBI has stepped up inquiries into the security of the former secretary of state's home-made email system and how aides communicated over email, POLITICO has learned.

The FBI's recent moves suggest that its inquiry could have evolved from the preliminary fact-finding stage that the agency launches when it receives a credible referral, according to former FBI and Justice Department officials interviewed by POLITICO.

"This sounds to me like it's more than a preliminary inquiry; it sounds like a full-blown investigation," said Tom Fuentes, former assistant director of the FBI. "When you have this amount of resources going into it .... I think it's at the investigative level."

One of the greatest political sleight-of-hand feats in recent history has been the Democrats' united front about Hillary Clinton's email scandal being nothing more than a partisan political attack even though the reason it won't go away is because the FBI is still looking into it. It is difficult to make the case for the FBI being a purely political attack dog, mostly because it isn't. Conspiracy theory fans might be able to craft a fantastical connect-the-dots scenario to make it seem so, but that doesn't change reality.

Mrs. Bill's scandal is sticking around because it is, and always has been, a potential breach of national security that any responsible United States official who swore to defend the Constitution should want to be thoroughly cleared up.

The elected officials who still insist this is a political hit job are egregiously violating their oaths of office.

#13  #8 i do not understand the fuss here.

Permit me:

1) Federal Records Retention laws
Being a government official (Secretary of State) her official correspondence must be archived. This happens automagically for government servers, but not for a home-brew email setup.

2) Classified information
Classified info is supposed to be kept inside secure government systems. These are often air-gapped to prevent 'leakage'.

3) Security
While govt systems have been hacked, they are more secure than your run-of-the-mill, server in a closet, ISP account. A private server would be a juicy target for hackers ranging from high school script kiddies to foreign governments.

4) Caesar's Wife
Hillary assures us that anything that no violations of records retention laws took place, no classified info was shared. She has even showed us selected emails to prove it. Some of us are suspicious. Especially since leaked emails demonstrate the contrary.

Numbers 1 and 2 are violations of the law. #3 is stupid behavior. You can argue #4 is no big deal, but who are you going to believe: Hillary or your lying eyes?

#12   all that is allowed to Jove is not permitted for the cattle....

No Joves in America, anon1. And it is singularly amusing that the one thing Ms Clinton's private servers did not do was to keep her emails secure. The scandal broke because at least one of Ms Clinton's correspondents' email accounts was hacked, and the results published. With that information others found her server and discovered enough of the contents that powerful people started asking questions and demanding answers.

Whom the gods would destroy, they first make proud.

#11  all that is allowed to Jove is not permitted for the cattle....

we are the cattle so our rulers must keep the secrets from us

and yet we are supposed to vote for them and without information democracy is meaningless

so the pantomime rolls on.... imperfect but better than the alternative largely due to civil rights protected by law, which are being eroded at a frenetic pace

#9  The FBI is in a tight spot. Some people -- like me for instance -- are waiting to see who is charged for leaking Top Secret codeword information. If nothing happens, I feel that the secrecy oath means nothing and I can reveal all that I have learned over the years. What's fit for the goose...

#8  i do not understand the fuss here.

it seems logical to me for a political player seeking nomination for the presidency to try to secure their email

clearly she didnt trust government servers -- and given recent hacks why should she?

please do not interpret this position as support in any way for the clintons. Christopher Hitchens devastating book No-one left to lie to - the triangulations of Bill Clinton was a masterpiece at exposing Americas worst family.

she stood by while her husband lied about his repeated abuse of women not just philandering but worse and on multiple occasions.

but vis a vis the emails -- big deal. Why shouldnt she secure her emails with whatever provider she can find.

it doesnt make her a crook. She is scrutinised and every move criticised, i would do the same if i were her.

#7  From my point of view the best thing the Democrats can do is destroy the Clinton machine, put someone honorable up for the election with the expectation they will lose, and plan to rebuild around the blue-color 'actually like America' wing of the party.

Of course what I see as best for the party and what Obama sees are likely polar opposites.

#6  From numba 5 .....SO how to defeat it but not destroy the party or actually send her to jail, creating the cascading disaster that would envelop the entire democrat machine.

Likely "envelop" a number of pubs as well.

#5  The Clinton Machine has enormous ability to do damage to its enemies and to the Democratic Paty in general and the Obama administration in particular. It is also enormously corrupt and holds many, many political power brokers' misbehaviors in its memory banks. SO how to defeat it but not destroy the party or actually send her to jail, creating the cascading disaster that would envelop the entire democrat machine. ValJar is moving towards more and more pressure points, Huma and Cheryl indictments, press reporting of hacking of the server, fiscal audit of the CGI and Foundation subsidiaries, hard look at Chelsea's hubbies finances, all designed to create doubt, and eventually perhaps a health event or really dark FBI cloud. The voila, Uncle Joe, with less time for him to be on stage and gaffing. White Knight to the rescue scenario. Poof, Presidential pardon or interdiction of any serious charges, couple of bus bumps of senior staffers (not Huma, she is too.....close to the Beest) and the blowback is managed. Then Champ and his minions move on to reaping the harvest in the afterglow of his Presidency....

#4  Operation Slow-Walk is in full swing. The FBI is as aggressive in investigating her as they were Whitey Bulger in the 1970s and 80s.

Ironically, the motivation to do little or nothing appears to be much the same.

#2  Less a criminal investigation and more the Obama gang stacking up chips to play against the Clintons. Hillary is not going to jail. Not anytime soon, anyway.

#1  I read a discussion of Krauthammer piece (which I can't find) suggesting that Hillary had a charity based out of Canada that bundled foreign money donations and sent them into her American operations (laundering the money basically) and that was likely what was deleted from her email. She was willing to take the huge political hit because jail was the obvious result if that stuff came out.

It all seemed pretty credible to me.
