| Gunmen on motorbike shoot policeman dead in Egypt’s Beni Suef |

| [AlAhram] Gunmen on a cycle of violence rubbed out an Egyptian policeman south of Cairo, the interior ministry said early on Sunday. The incident, which occurred late on Saturday in Beni Suef governorate, is the latest in a string of attacks on security forces that have spiked since the 2013 ouster of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi. Two assailants on a motorbike opened fire Saturday night on a vehicle belonging to policeman Khalifa Ali Hassan in the city of El-Fashan in the southern part of Beni Suef. No group has grabbed credit for the attack. Attacks over the past two years have mainly taken place in the North Sinai region, the epicenter of a mounting Islamist insurgency. |
