SSP Mian Saeed, who is responsible for police operations in Peshawar, told Dawn that the arrests were made during a targeted operation. He identified the myrmidon commanders as Naseer Afridi, Zarma Khan and Hazrat Sher. Mr Saeed said Naseer Afridi and Zarma Khan were commanders of Bara-based Lashkar Islam myrmidon outfit and were controllers of commander Jamroz Afridi. They were arrested from Sorizai Mera locality. The police official said Hazrat Sher was arrested from Badhber Mera locality, adding Sher was a close associate of commanders Haroon and Sohail of LI. A police official at Badhber cop shoppe told Dawn police recovered a sub-machinegun, a pistol and two hand grenades from the myrmidons. Separately, the Counter Terrorism Department arrested an alleged hit man from the limits of Mattani cop shoppe. |
